Stony workout

To lose a bit of weight, most people try dieting fads or exercise. But a Chinese fitness fanatic has taken exercise to the extreme. He balances a 90-pound boulder on his head. Cong Yan from Jilin province is 53 years old and he says that walking with a stone on his head helps him lose weight. He even admitted that he has shaved off around 60 pounds in the space of a year. According to him three years ago his weight had reached 230 pounds and t affected his health a lot. He said, ‘When I began, I wanted to try this method because I did not want to use diet pills.’ Initially, he used a 33 pound stone and then gradually increased it to 88 pounds. To do laps while wearing the boulder, every morning Cong Yan heads to the Beishan Scenic park. In more than 3 years Yan has reduced his weight by 85 pounds and he says that the method has worked well. He said, ‘Three years ago with the 40 kilogram stone, I could easily walk 3,000 meters (1.86 miles).’ He has not only lost weight but his health has also improved. Now before walking 22 laps around the Peace Bell Tower with the stone on his head, he does two boxing routines every day .
